Easter/Holy Week campaign for Victory of the Lamb inviting the public to share in worship for the most important week in the church.
The cut paper palms and tropical leaves of the design call to the setting of the very first Holy Week in Jerusalem, and references Palm Sunday. Bright blues and greens match the tropical theme and branding of Victory of the Lamb, while the three-dimensional quality stands out in any stack of mail.
Attendance from Easter 2016 to Easter 2017 increased by 20% after the postcard was mailed out and advertised on Facebook.
I created this design to brand and advertise Victory of the Lamb's Christmas Eve service, a night of bluegrass style worship celebrating Christ's birth.
The lettering style and foliage on the front call to the rustic theme of the service and a sense of celebration, while the welcoming yet clean design of the back calls to the church's worship style — a clear message of the Gospel in an abundantly welcoming atmosphere.
Identity and logo design for Yellow Suitcase Studio, a photography and creative studio based in Milwaukee.
The illustrations in the design call to the whimsy and warm nature of Yellow Suitcase Studio's work, as well as the vintage-style suitcase that inspired the name! The color palette is drawn from their photography, while the hand lettered element of "studio" calls to the craft and DIY work that Yellow Suitcase Studio creates as well.
The final design shown here was an alternate direction that Yellow Suitcase Studio and I also enjoyed throughout the process.
A sample of over 100 hand lettering pieces I designed for She Reads Truth to go with each day of their reading plans. These images were distributed via their social media of 570k+ followers, website, mobile app, and email listings. The idea is that each piece serves as a reminder of each day's reading and truth, and can be easily shared to promote a love for scripture.
I also created the first motion graphics the She Reads Truth/He Reads Truth community had seen.
A solo project at She Reads Truth, designing the layout of their Employee Handbook. Reflecting their brand in every detail of what they do is very important to the company, even when it involves a document that would rarely leave their office.
The book was to be spiral bound, single sided, and use only two colors. I set out to create a beautiful layout of often very boring information, while reflecting their brand at the same time.
Here is a sample of just some of the 33 page handbook.
The palm illustrations call to the setting of the book, while the use of watercolor paint illustrates the meaning of book itself. In each lettering piece, the constant transition of dark to light, or one color to the next, represents the constant cycle of judgment and redemption spoken by God through Hosea's words and life.
I also assisted in photo styling for product promotion.
A detailed and step-by-step look into some experimental work using glitter as a medium for type. I first began with the idea of creating lettering out of glitter, and then chose a phrase that both supported the medium, and that the medium could support.
The bright type and phrase have now become a wonderful addition to my shop as a fine art print.
I created this custom lettering piece as a wedding gift for my friend Stephanie. This textured drop shadow style is one of my favorites to create, and I chose the colors to match her wedding! Complete with custom painted wrapping paper.

One Psalm, nine different lettering explorations. A personal project of mine exploring my favorite Psalm.
You can order each of these as a print or set of 9 cards in my shop.
Artwork I designed for a 5-part Sermon series at Victory of the Lamb, along with two typography pieces for social media use.
The bold ambiguous figure in the design calls to the mystery and legacy of who "this man," Jesus, was to the people in his time here on earth and who he is to us today. He is the man whose life separates time into a before and an after. Our pursuer and our savior by his death and resurrection. No one ever spoke the way this man does, for there is no other like our God.
"The grass withers and the flowers fall,
but the word of our God endures forever.”
I used this typographic exploration to push how the setting and context of type can work to influence its meaning, and how I could create that context myself. This project also helped me practice my photo styling skills by creating a stunning and meaningful composition by the flowers I chose and the way I arranged them around the type.

A personal project creating hand lettered motion graphics for Palm Sunday and Easter Sunday. The lettering and motion style of each animation calls to the depth of Jesus's life, death, resurrection, and the events leading up to it.
The graphics were then donated to my church for social media use.
An ongoing lettering series exploring food and other materials as typography to add to the meaning of each message. This project emphasizes the freedom that leaving the screen and lettering by hand can hold, and the way that physical properties influence meaning of typography.
A redesign of the baptism certificate for Victory of the Lamb.
The white certificate was created to be given out for each baptism, and to be an alternative to a stereotypical or cheesy design. This new certificate becomes a piece worthy of framing to remember for a lifetime.
The blue design was printed and distributed to the entire congregation as a reminder of their own baptismal promises into Christ.
**Please contact me if you are interested in using this certificate design for your church as well. I'd love to help!
If you're in the Milwaukee area, come on over to Victory of the Lamb in Franklin to see these signs in their lobby to signify their "Welcome Area" and the "Victory Cafe." I had a blast painting these lettering pieces at such a large scale.
Many members comment that it was the first thing that caught their eye walking into church for the first time and helped them instantly feel welcomed and comfortable.
Feel free to contact me for similar custom lettered murals.
The Victory Garden Initiative has been incredibly rewarding to work with.
Beginning Fall of 2014, as a part of my internship with Nicolas Lampert, and in partnership with Reciprocity, I began to do live screen printing at the Concordia Community Garden. While kids from the neighborhood sell community grown vegetables out of the farm stand, I bring a different design each week to screen print at the same time. I was originally only going to do this for a few weeks, but I instantly fell in love with VGI and all the people involved at the stand, and now do it every year.
Here’s a peek into the work I’ve gotten to create for them.
Victory Kids (formerly Bible Quest) is the children's ministry at Victory of the Lamb Lutheran Church.
The goal of this project was to create an identity that emphasized and called attention to the joy and fun of learning about the Gospel in creative and kid-friendly ways, and showed the special care and attention that Victory of the Lamb devotes to young families. We are children of a Victorious King! This logo, and program, celebrates just that.
