I believe stunning design isn’t reserved for large companies, but that organizations with the best messages deserve the best design.
I find the most joy and often the most meaningful way to communicate purposeful stories is through hand lettering: with each letter drawn out with time and care―because human stories are best told by hand.
In addition to lettering and design I have a heart for all things printmaking and my home in Milwaukee. You can usually catch me exploring what I can on bike, or find me at a coffee shop―chai in hand―studying some scripture and working on any latest project!
"I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well."
This verse never fails to strike me as an artist. How I was made, how I make, and what I make are so incredibly interwoven.
As I sit down to begin any project, there’s always a sense of fear that it may not be a success, and also a fear of where the process of my work will take me. But the amazing part about creating is finding the joy and wonder in where the creative process takes you. I find myself in countless situations creating things I never would have imagined, and I know that is not by any pure talent of my own.
It’s also so easy for any artist to be their own worst critic, just as it is in everyday life. But God's Word reminds us that each and every one of us was created with an even greater sense of fear and wonder. He finds joy in the process of our lives, and turns even the most unlikely people and situations into his greatest work. We are known and created so intimately that it only makes sense that I create all I do in the very same way.
